Leaders lead people, not institutions
"True leadership must be for the benefit of the people, not the enrichment of the instition"
Bureaucrats run institutions. Leaders lead people. There's a great difference.
Bureaucrats shuffle and tab papers with sense of glee. Their computer hard drives are crammed with memorandums and tickler files. They move through the forests with white boards and easels like gazelles. Sadly, they are captives of their own corporations. The institution is a cold entity. It takes instead of gives. It's self preserving and focused an the bottom line.
Leaders would rather work with people than paper. People are dynamic. They have the capacity to give as well as receive. People need to be led. They are incomplete without direction.
Institution stifle leadership. Real leaders are dreamers, risk takers. They want to see movement. Reports, committees, departments-leaders see these things as necessary evils. ut their real passion is for people. They delight in helping their their coworkers reach their destinations. They are fueled by the smiles of accomplishment. They joy in the "yes!" moments with their associates.
A real leader longs not for an organization to run, but for a people to LEAD!.
